After an update

What to do after a game update

After a game update or public-release update, the most common mistake is leaving a mixed game/ folder with old and new files together. The safest path is usually shorter than it looks: clean rollback, then clean install.

1. Do not mix older and newer releases

  • If you already updated the game or NovaTextVN, check whether old files from a previous build are still left in game/.
  • The safest path is to remove both current public-release files and start again cleanly.
  • This matters even more if behavior became unpredictable or F10 started behaving differently after the update.

2. Install the current release as a clean setup

  • Download the current novatextvn_dropin.zip from GitHub Releases.
  • Copy only novatextvn_patch.rpa and novatextvn_core.exe back into game/.
  • Then restart the game and verify F10 and the core reading flow again.

3. When to open the changelog and when to open an issue

  • If you need to confirm which release is current and what was publicly stated about it, open the changelog.
  • If a clean install still does not help, capture the game title, release version, and symptoms for GitHub Issues.
  • That is far more useful than continuing to shuffle files in game/ at random.

If the issue remains after a clean reinstall

At that point you already have a clean reproduction path without mixed files, which makes troubleshooting or a GitHub issue much stronger.
